Cornea and refractive surgery

The fitting doesn't fit in a three-field prescription.

iGalenus changes the fields according to the modality you adapt, and does the math.

What costs you time today

The contact lens prescription is calculated by hand and vertex compensation is done in your head.

Scleral lens parameters are jotted down in the lab's format, not in the record.

The previous fitting doesn't show up when the patient returns a year later.

What the Cornea and refractive surgery record includes.

Complete refraction

Subjective, cycloplegic and objective, with K1, K2, add and interpupillary distance.

Lensometry of current eyeglasses

What the patient is wearing, to compare with today's refraction.

Fields that change with the modality

Soft, rigid, scleral, ortho-k and piggyback each open their own parameters.

Automatic vertex compensation

Sphere and cylinder adjust automatically from the eyeglass prescription to contact lens.

Vector sum of the over-refraction

When the axes don't match, the system adds them as vectors.

Toric and rigid lenses, with the calculations

Base curve, axis, sagittal depth, reverse curves, and optic zone depending on the case.

One prescription for everything

Glasses, contacts or both, with printed validity and QR code.

Questions about Cornea and refractive surgery

What we're usually asked.

Is it useful for fitting scleral lenses?

Yes. When you choose the scleral modality, the prescription changes its fields and asks for sagittal depth, clearances and landing zone instead of base curve, which is what actually describes a scleral lens.

Does it do vertex compensation?

Yes, automatically. When converting the eyeglass prescription to contact lens power, the system adjusts sphere and cylinder, and offers the spherical equivalent when astigmatism is low.

Can I retrieve the patient's previous fitting?

Yes. The history of lens prescriptions stays in the record with each one's formulas and K readings, and can be copied into a new prescription.
